Beware: Big Cherry

Just a fair warning. Anyone wishing to fish at the Big Cherry Lake better have all permits, licenses, boat registration, etc. Gamewardens are running around the lake with gas powered motors and handing out tickets like there is no tommorow. Three teenagers from Big Stone were ticketed for not having the boat registration on hand. A mistake on their part but not worthy of a ticket in my opinion, a verbal warning would have been efficient. I can sleep peaceful tonite knowing my tax dollars are being well spent paying for such fine law enforcement. Be careful out there, those teenagers are dangerous. Oh yeah, I thought gas powered motors were not allowed on the lake, at least for those of us without a badge I suppose.

You are required to have your registration on hand at all times. It is no different than not having your auto registration with you when operating your vehicle.

You'll get a ticket in both situations. Just as you would if you weren't in possesion of your driver's or fishing license.

And there is a difference between one game warden running a gas motor and 50 people running motors.

I don't have a problem with them geting a ticket for this. As often as the wardens are out checking there is no good excuse for not having it, and they will give you time to call someone and get it brought to you most of the time. We have forgotten to bring ours before or the person with it was going to be late and we started fishing and was checked but the warden let us wait on it to get there and everything was fine. I have a simple way of taking care of this I just keep my boat registration in the same little orange envelope they gave me to keep my fishing license in when they come to check me I just hand them the whole envelope and let them check everything in it.

the game wardens are just doing there job. if you are fishing without the proper stuff you deserive it. They wont do nothing to you if you are ligit to fish where you are at.

Just kind of curious....
if they didn't stop the kids and the kids were annoying, would the same people be on here complaining about them not doing their job

I'm all for giving people a warning or a break now and then, but I'm also up for a police saying wow there is 20 people up there partying, might should do my job and check them

Just wondering what's the best way to get there now, CN or go up the Knob? If you come through [censored]'s Neck is there road signs? I'd read in the newspaper last summer that there were some great overlooks and been told that by a guy who works at the engineering firm in big stone.

Considering last years mess with no water in BSG.
What happens if those gasoline engines, begin leaking, into the towns only water supply.
Not being a smart aleck, but yeah i see a problem, with gasoline engines, on the the towns watershed.
BSG i dont' think can withstand to many more problems like they had last year.
And from what i see, a long ways, from settling still other internal problems.
If it's gonna cause a problem, don't do it, and don't allow it. Simple solution.

With the exception of Pound and Flannagan, gasoline outboards are prohibited in all SW VA lakes.

I don't have a problem with the gas restricions on the lakes around here. Shoot they are so small you can get around them fine with just a trolling motor. If you want to move faster you can do like what you told me about yesterday where the guy had 3 72 lb. thrust motors attached to the back of his boat, heck why not put 5 on there they don't have any restrictions on how many electric motors you can run.
